Rugby has been the fastest growing team sport in the USA for the last 5 years. Rugby was reintroduced as an Olympic Sport at Rio 2016.Pasadena RFC has been running a youth program for the past four years. Last year over 60 kids participated in U8, U10, U12 & U14 teams. The emphasis is on the kids having fun while learning totally new athletic skills and concepts that are very different from classic American sports. The program is run by fully-accredited coaches with assistance from active players in both our senior Men’s and Women’s teams. Rugby provides a full Club sport environment.
This age group will be strictly non-contact and will work with the understanding of rugby fundamentals. The emphasis of the learning process for this younger age group revolves around fun games to engage the kids. Although we welcome five year-olds, some aspects of rugby can be difficult for them. Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns.
For the older children, we will be introducing contact rugby. This will involve graduated steps to ensure your children’s safety in various skills needed for tackling, rucking, and scrums.
