For over 30 years, the Club has maintained a strong rugby tradition in the highly competitive Southern California Rugby Football Union and has seen several of its players move on to play for select sides including the USA Eagles national team. Evidence of the team’s successes are White division championships in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 2013, and Blue division championships in 2002 and 2007. Also in 2007, PRFC finished 5th in the Nation.

Eleanor Rugby In 1973 Pasadena Women’s Rugby Club was formed with a group of “rugger huggers”(women who were largely girlfriends and wives of the men on the Crown City Rugby Club) and quickly evolved into a team of women with a commitment to athletics and excellence of play. The Eleanors, as the team called themselves, was the first women’s rugby team in Southern California. As their membership grew, the Eleanor Ruggers sparked interest in women’s rugby in other parts of California. Shortly after the Pasadena women began practice, San Diego State started a women’s team and the two teams played each other three times that first year. The last season the Eleanors played was 1984.

Pasadena fields multiple active sides and is always looking for new players with or without rugby experience. Additionally, the Club sponsors both High School and Youth sides coached by Pasadena players and alumni. The Club’s dedication to the values of the sport of rugby are seen off the field through the support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ “Holiday from the Heart” program and various donations to Pasadena area Food Banks.
